Afuri Ramen

Locations (selection): Google Maps (Shibuya), Google Maps (Ebisu), Google Maps (Shinjuku)

When I first came to Tokyo, I seemed to end up at AFURI at almost any hour of the day or night. I kept returning for the yuzu shio ramen: a clear, savoury broth brightened with citrus, comforting without ever feeling heavy.

Perhaps that is why AFURI feels less like a restaurant recommendation and more like part of my first memories of the city. With several locations across Tokyo, it slips easily into a travel day—between neighbourhoods, after hours of walking, or whenever something familiar feels welcome in a city that is still unfolding around you.
